I recently started collecting vinyl records and wanted to show some of them off but also have them readily available to play. I saw some options online but decided to make some shelves myself. No judging my music! :)

I decided to make two 8 foot shelves using knotty pine from Home Depot. I bought two 1x4x8 and one 1x6x8 board which I ripped in two for the vertical back pieces.
I wanted to test my new (bought used) router and I created a dado groove. I used a plunge feature so that the groove would not go all the way to each end.

The dado wasn't perfectly straight but I was fairly happy for my first try with the router and guide.
The next step was to rip the 1x6x8 in half. I then I glued the piece to the horizontal piece with the dado.
I let the glue settle overnight and then I added a few screws for extra measure.
I decided to use the MinWax ebony stain and the finished it off with a couple coats of polyurethane.
Project Complete!
